SelectSpend Discover® Reward Cards
WRL's SelectSpend product line is what is commonly referred to in the prepaid industry as a RAN (Restricted Authorization Network) product. Through our relationship with Discover®, we utilize a prepaid card and can restrict where the card can be spent. This type of product is useful for incentive or reward programs where you are trying to shape the recipients purchasing behavior. For example, if you are trying to drive people to a local mall or shopping community, we can set up a prepaid SelectSpend card so that it can just be used at those stores within the mall or within a specific region.
There are 3 types of SelectSpend products that we offer:
SelectSpend Private
The Private card limits purchasing to one or more specific merchants that you own or are affiliated with
Ideal for Reward or Rebate programs where the desired merchant location are set up on different Point-of-Sale (POS) terminals such as a mall or entertainment venue.
SelectSpend Geo
The Geo card is limited to specific geographical regions in the United States based on zip codes provided
Ideal for Community incentive programs to draw consumer spending to a desired shopping region.
SelectSpend Category
We offer 5 predesigned prepaid cards that limit the spending to applicable merchants within those categories. These cards are ideal for helping to shape purchasing behavior and are less expensive than our open-loop cards that are accepted anywhere. Categories include:
R&R Card (Rest & Relaxation)
Used at any merchant classified in the health & beauty category such as spas, beauty salons, and massage parlors.
Golf Card
Used at any golf course both public and private as well as sporting good stores who sell golf related products.
Entertainment Card
Use at any entertainment or recreational venue including movie theaters, bowling alleys, amusement parks, sporting events, concerts, and theatrical productions.
Fuel Card
Can be used at gas and service stations. Payment with the card should be made inside of the gas station with an attendant.
Travel Card
Used at any travel related merchant including airlines, hotels, car rentals, taxis, limousines, and public transportation.
Merchants must accept Discover cards.
The Geo & Private products can be branded with your logo and design. The requirements for each reward card program include:
- Each has a set up fee and minimum commitment of 1,000 cards.
- Merchants that you wish to limit the cards usage to for the Private card must provide written approval to do so.
- A program application is required and set up time frame may take 2-5 weeks until cards can be produced.
The default denominations offered for all cards is between $10 - $750. Prior approval is required for any amounts exceeding $750 per card.
